Top Tips For Self Improvement

Self ImprovementStriving To Improve

Being better than what we are is something that we all strive towards.  We want to reach more, be more and generally improve ourselves.  That this is something that concerns all of us is clear by the thousands upon thousands of self-help books that are available in our book stores.  The reality is that no book can improve you.  The only thing that is able to improve yourself is you, your desire and your own will.  However, this doesn’t mean that there are no tips out there that you can’t implement in your own life.  Let’s take a look at top tips for self-improvement.

1 – Focus on Your Discipline

Discipline is incredibly important.  You have to stick to the goals you have set for yourself and be disciplined to do the things you need to do in order to achieve them.  This is also very true at work, where having self-discipline is incredibly important.

“The workplace is the perfect environment to work on your self-discipline.”  5 Ways to Work on Yourself at Work

You can do such things as only checking your email at certain times, rather than being disrupted every time a new email comes in.  You could also choose to have fewer cups of coffee or snacks.  There are many things that disrupt your day, and having the discipline to cut down on these things will always get you further.

2 – Change Your Negative Core Beliefs

The law of attraction states that positive attracts positive and that negative attracts negative, in the opposite way that magnetism works.  This basically means that we create what we believe in.  If we believe ourselves to be a failure, we will never achieve anything and only those who believe they can be a success will eventually be that.  Most of us are aware of this, but we aren’t aware of the negative core beliefs that we still hold and the effect these have on our overall lives.

“As long as we hold on to one thought as the truth we cannot discover another thought that may be equally or even more true for us.  Asking ourselves the four questions helps to release our grip and open up.”
How To Change Your Thoughts And Negative Core Beliefs

The first question is whether or not something is true.  The second is whether you have absolute certainty about whether or not something is true.  Next, ask yourself how you react whenever you believe the thought that may be standing in your way.  Finally, explore the type of person you would be if that thought wasn’t there.  You can apply this to every thought that ever comes into your mind and use it to get rid of negative thinking as well.

3 – Be Grateful

Gratitude is a very important personality trait.  It is good for your own self, as it is a positive thought, but it is also good for others, who like to feel appreciated.  By giving out positive thoughts like gratitude to others, they will be more inclined to send out positive emotions towards you as well.

“Express gratitude whenever you experience something good.  This will allow you receive even more good things.  Gratitude really does wonders.”  30 Self Improvement Ideas

Gratitude is also very important in terms of going further at work.  By showing you are grateful for the work of others, you become a better leader.  By showing gratitude for opportunities you are given, you will be given more opportunities to further yourself anymore.  Gratitude is one of the most positive of all feelings and you may even want to keep a gratitude diary for yourself.  Reading these back at the end of a certain period of time is a great way to keep you grounded as well.
