The DiSC Profile is a fantastic tool that allows people to improve and understand their behavior both at home and in the workplace. It isn’t just about understanding your own DiSC Profile, however, but also about understanding that of others within a team. DiSC stands for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness, and everyone tends to score highest on one of these four issues. Being aware of this improves working relationships and productivity and tends to make for better leaders and managers. But which industries use the DiSC Profile more than others and why?
Fortune 500 Companies
It is known that 70% of the Fortune 500 companies use DiSC Profiles.

Some of the companies that have consistently been on the Fortune 500 list include Exxon Mobile, General Electric, Chevron and Walmart. These are companies that are known to be strong, with fantastic management. This is because they do use the DiSC Profiles, particularly within management.
Other Companies
The reality is that any company, regardless of size, can benefit from working with the DiSC tool. This is because it looks so clearly at all the different elements of behavior and how these influence each other. Since different people score differently on the profile, their personalities can, at times, be conflicting. However, understanding how DiSC Profiles help will bring greater harmony and success to any workplace.
Indeed, rather than looking at specific companies, it is perhaps more interesting to look at areas of work that can benefit from having a DiSC Assessment done. One such area is project management. Because projects are often of short duration, they also involve getting people together who don’t normally work in a team. This can cause certain tensions and it is important to recognize and resolve these before they become hampering to the successful completion of the project.

Someone’s DiSC profile will immediately show whether they are suitable not just as managers and leaders in general, but also as manager and leader of a specific team, where team members once again have their own profile.
It is known that some 50 million people so far have taken the DiSC personality test over the past 40 years. It has changed and been improved over those years, but only in as such that it has become easier to understand. Yearly, some one million people use it and they do so not just in work, but also at home. This is because the DiSC profile teaches you how to be better at communicating and working as a team. It allows you to resolve conflicts by understand people’s motivators and actions and reactions. It is for this reason that it is powerful wherever it is used, be that in managing two toddlers, an entire financial management team or a customer service department. And it is also for this reason that it can be used at any level of an organization.
