How Do You Define Success?
Success is hard to define, particularly because different people have different ideas on what makes them successful. However, it is always about being able to get what you want, and that takes a number of special skills. Those who could be considered the real winners in life are those who also understand what the rules are. They have a plan of action to achieve whatever it is they want to achieve, whether it is losing weight or reaching the Fortune 100 list. So what is their secret? Is there a formula they follow in order to achieve success?
Visualization – Where Success Starts
Most experts agree that the secret of success starts with a visualization. You must firstly know exactly what your idea of success is and what it will mean for you if you achieve that. What does it look like? Can you picture yourself achieving it? There are various visualization techniques you can use, including making a picture board with images that represent success to you (a Ferrari, a vacation, a big house and so on), or you can use meditation and internal visualization. Interestingly, you can learn how to do this from children.
“As children, we dream big. We don’t let anyone mess with our grand vision. We simply go for what we want and constantly stick with it until we get it.”
The Proven 3-Step Formula for Success
Unfortunately, as adults, we have forgotten how to be visionaries. We seem to focus far more strongly on failures, believing them to be proof of a goal being impossible, rather than being lessons on what not to do. If you have a vision, every setback is nothing more than a lesson, bringing you closer to your success.
Make a Strategy – Work the Strategy
Being successful is also about having a strategy to work towards. As much as some people would like you to believe the opposite, success will not simply land on your lap just because you want it enough or visualize it enough. You have to actually be pro-active and go out and get it. Experts agree that the best way to achieve this is by actually creating a personal strategy.
“People who consistently win have a clear and thoughtful strategy. They know what they need to do and when they need to do it. They write it down so they stay on course and avoid any alternative that does not get them closer to the finish line.”
Life Strategies – Formula For Success
Develop Passion and Flexibility
However, as much as a strategy is important to have, you must also be flexible enough to change it along the way as and when needed. What matters most is that you have the passion to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. You must be willing to take risks, because if the road to success was easy, you would have arrived there already. At the same time, you must be critical of your own actions and see what sort of things you are doing that could be improved or that have little to no effect on your journey towards success. As such, your strategy must be adaptable and you have to be able to change it as you go along, so long as the goal remains unchanged. If your goal, your very definition of success, changes (and this does happen), then you need to create a new strategy as well.
As you can see, success is something that everybody can achieve. This is also because everybody has their own personal definition of what success actually is. Being realistic and having the right priorities is incredibly important. Additionally, you must look after your own physical and mental well-being.
